R.I.P. Keith Emerson, George Martin Glen Frey
Keith Emerson, the keyboardist of progressive rock legends Emerson, Lake & Palmer, died on March 10 at the age of 71. In the '70s, Emerson became famous for mixing virtuoso musicianship with theatrical performances that included a piano that turned end-over-end.
Producer and arranger George Martin, the man known as the "Fifth Beatle," died on March 8 at the age of 90. Martin signed the Beatles to their first record deal in 1962, and worked with them from their first single "Love Me Do" until their final album, Abbey Road. He also produced Jeff Beck, Cheap Trick, America, and Elton John, among others.
Eagles singer-songwriter, vocalist an guitarist Glenn Frey died on Jan. 18 at 67. The band, which had 16 Top 40 hits with Frey between 1972-79, said he'd suffered "complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia."
